What is an autotune plugin?

An autotune plugin corrects the pitch of a voice to the nearest note of a key you choose. Set it slowly and the correction sounds natural; set it fast and you get the hard-tuned effect heard on many pop and rap records.

What is a vocoder plugin?

A vocoder lays the shape of your voice over a synth or another sound, so the synth seems to sing the words. It is a different tool from pitch correction, which keeps your own voice and only changes its pitch.

Will a vocal plugin work in my DAW?

Check the formats in the product's specifications. Most DAWs load VST3, Logic Pro uses Audio Unit and Pro Tools uses AAX.
