EQ Plugins
An EQ plugin boosts or cuts ranges of frequencies to shape a sound: it clears out mud, tames harsh highs and makes room for each instrument in the mix. Dynamic EQs and resonance suppressors work only when a frequency gets too loud, so they react to the music as it plays. Each product lists its formats and system requirements.

Frequently asked questions
What does an EQ plugin do?
An EQ (equalizer) raises or lowers the level of chosen frequency ranges. You use it to remove problems, such as boom or harshness, and to give each instrument its own space in the mix.
What is the difference between a normal EQ and a dynamic EQ?
A normal EQ applies the same boost or cut all the time. A dynamic EQ, or a resonance suppressor, only cuts when a frequency gets louder than it should, so the sound stays natural in quieter parts.
Will an EQ plugin work in my DAW?
Check the formats in the product's specifications. Most DAWs load VST3, Logic Pro uses Audio Unit and Pro Tools uses AAX.
