iZotope Neutron 3 Advanced

iZotope Neutron 3 Advanced is a previous version of iZotope’s mixing plug-in, released in 2019; the current version is iZotope Neutron 5. It is a channel strip with EQ, compression, exciter, transient shaper, gate and the Sculptor module, plus Mix Assistant, which listens to your whole session and sets a starting balance. It suits producers who mix in a DAW on Windows 7 to 10 or on macOS 10.14 Mojave to 13 Ventura.

iZotope Neutron 3 is a previous version

iZotope followed Neutron 3 with Neutron 4 in 2022 and Neutron 5 in October 2024. iZotope lists Neutron 3 up to macOS 13 Ventura and Windows 10, not for newer systems. Choose Neutron 5 if you want the new Clipper, Density and Phase modules, or support for current macOS and Windows 11.

Neutron 3 Standard vs Advanced

Standard has the Neutron 3 plug-in, Relay and Visual Mixer, with Track Assistant in place of Mix Assistant. Advanced adds Mix Assistant, each module as its own plug-in and Tonal Balance Control.

• Windows: Windows 7, 8 or 10
• macOS: 10.14 Mojave to 13 Ventura (Ventura from version 3.10.0)
• Mac CPU: Intel or Apple silicon; native AU and VST3 from 3.9.0, native AAX from 3.10.0
• Formats: VST3, VST2, AU and AAX (VST2 runs only under Rosetta on Apple silicon); no standalone app, so it needs a host such as a DAW
