Roland ZENOLOGY Pro is Roland's software synth built on the ZEN-Core engine of its FANTOM and JUPITER-X hardware, with full editing and over 4,000 tones.

Roland ZENOLOGY Pro is the full edition of Roland’s ZENOLOGY software synthesizer, built on the ZEN-Core Synthesis System that also powers Roland’s FANTOM and JUPITER-X hardware. It is for producers and sound designers who want Roland’s sound in their DAW with full editing, saving and import and export. It runs on Windows 10 (64-bit) and macOS 11 or later, on Intel and Apple Silicon Macs, as a VST3, AU or AAX plug-in.

What is ZENOLOGY Pro?

ZENOLOGY Pro is the Pro level of ZENOLOGY, now at version 2.0. Roland’s ZENOLOGY editions are the same plug-in with features switched on or off: the standard ZENOLOGY has basic editing only and does not take Model Expansions, while ZENOLOGY Pro opens advanced editing, saving and import and export. Sounds can be shared with ZEN-Core hardware such as FANTOM, JUPITER-X, JUNO-X, RD-88 and MC-101.

  • Oscillators with nine virtual analogue waveforms plus Supersaw, noise, PCM and PCM SYNC
  • Ten filter types, including models based on Roland’s JUPITER series
  • Eleven LFO shapes, including tempo-synced 16-step Step LFOs
  • 93 multi-effects and 8 reverbs, including JUNO-106 and CE-1 choruses and the SDD-320 Dimension D
  • Tone browser with filtering, favourites and custom banks
  • Six drum compressors and drum edit views
  • Sample rates from 44.1 kHz to 192 kHz

ZENOLOGY Pro works with Roland Model Expansions (for example JUPITER-8, JUNO-106, SH-101, JX-8P and JD-800), Sound Packs and Wave Expansions. These are separate products and are not included with ZENOLOGY Pro; with them, Roland says the library can grow to more than 10,000 tones and more than 7,000 waveforms.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between ZENOLOGY, ZENOLOGY Lite and ZENOLOGY Pro?

They are the same Roland plug-in with features switched on or off. ZENOLOGY Lite has a small sound set and cannot save, and the standard ZENOLOGY has the full tone set but basic editing only and no Model Expansions. ZENOLOGY Pro, sold here, adds full editing, saving and import and export, and works with Model Expansions.

Is ZENOLOGY a VST plugin?

Yes. ZENOLOGY Pro is a 64-bit VST3 plug-in on Windows and macOS. It also comes as AAX on both systems and as AU on a Mac.

Does ZENOLOGY Pro work on Mac?

Yes. It needs macOS 11 or later and runs on Apple Silicon or on Intel Macs with a Core i5 or better, as a VST3, AU or AAX plug-in.

Are Model Expansions included with ZENOLOGY Pro?
