Omnisphere 2 is the previous version of Spectrasonics' flagship synth, built on the STEAM Engine with over 4,800 Soundsources.

Omnisphere 2 is the previous generation of Spectrasonics’ flagship software synthesizer, built on the STEAM Engine and combining sample-based Soundsources with DSP wavetable synthesis. It is for producers and composers who want Omnisphere’s sound on a system that may not run the newest version. It runs standalone or as a VST3, VST2, AU or AAX plugin on Windows 10 or higher and macOS 11 Big Sur or higher.

Omnisphere 2 is the previous version

Spectrasonics released Omnisphere 2 in 2015 and offered it publicly until October 2025, when Omnisphere 3 took over as the current version. The final Omnisphere 2 software release is 2.8.7c. If you want the newest version, choose Omnisphere 3, which needs macOS 13 Ventura or higher.
